RubX
Cubed
This is the greatest free fast-paced Windows 3D
multiplayer game ever coded, Bias... Bias, which pits a
couple cute little plastic games of old versus one
another in a race to find their pieces. Okay, this game
was developed by myself & 5 other students as our
Senior programming project in the University of
Washington's Computer Engineering department. It requires
DirectX 6.1 and is really only fun if you have a couple
computer's networked together for multiplayer action.
Final Fantasy VII
& VIII for the PC:
The original Final Fantasy by Square Soft emerged
in America from Japan for the 8-bit Nintendo
Entertainment system. The US sequals, Final Fantasy II
& III came out for the 16-bit Super Nintendo. Most of
the games in the series never migrated from Japan and the
only other titles that made it here are Final Fantasy VII
& VII originally for the Sony Playstation, which were
both later adapted for the PC. Final Fantasy VIII is by
far the most extensive Role Playing game I've ever seen,
with incredible graphics and sound as well as an
intricate characters and storylines. Final Fantasy VIIII
is already out for the Playstation and X and XI are
scheduled to be released soon for the Playstation2, but
whether any of those 3 releases will be available
natively for the PC is still in question.
Virtual
Springfield:
For Windows 95, Virtual Springfield is a fun-filled walk
through the cartoon hometown of America's longest running
primetime animated series, The Simpsons. For
more info on the Simpsons there are tons of great
"unofficial" Simpsons sites on the web with
borrowed pictures, animations, and music. There have been
many Simpsons video games for the Nintendo game systems
as well. If you've never seen the Simpsons then you're
suffering and don't even know it. My favorite episode is
the one where Homer wins a ride on the Duff Beer blimp but has to sell
his ticket so that his daughter Lisa can have enter a
beauty pagent to regain her self esteem.
Tetris:
This classic fast paced mind boggler is now online in a
java applet version I borrowed from a fellow UW student.
Nesticle,
Nintendo Emulator for the PC:
Nesticle is an incredibly accurate Windows/DOS PC
emulation of the classic 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment
System. If you have any nintendo ROM files, you can load
them into the emulator and play games on you PC just as
if you still had the old Nintendo hooked up. Try surfing
the web for ROMS or more info on Emulators from this
great emulator news site, EMU NEWS.
At EMU you can also find PC emualtors for almost every
system from Atari to Super Nintendo to Playstation!
Snes9X, Super
Nintendo Emulator for the PC:
This is a very well done Super Nintendo emulator that is
available for pretty much every platform from DOS to
Windows to Linux. It's a project still in the works and
being updated daily but it already plays most games.
